The Metals:

 

Gold saw slight losses in Asia and London and dropped to as low as $1208.30 in late morning New York trade, but it then jumped to as high as $1217.40 in midafternoon action and ended with a gain of 0.19%. Silver rose to as high as $15.85 and ended with a gain of 1.15%.

 

Euro gold fell to about €1061, platinum remained at €900, and copper climbed 2 cents to about $2.67.

 

Gold and silver equities fell about 1% in the first half hour of trade, but they then rallied back higher into the close and ended almost 1% higher on the day.

The Markets:

 

Oil turned higher on speculation that OPEC will add Libya and Nigeria to the list of countries adhering to production cuts.

 

The U.S. dollar index fell and treasuries rose while the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P turned mixed after more details emerged about Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were Adnoc, PepsiCo, Michael Kors, and Snap.
