The Metals:

 

Gold gained $2.60 to $1301.10 in Asia before it fell back to $1294.20 in London, but it then climbed to a new session high of $1302.10 by late morning in New York and ended with a gain of 0.15%. Silver chopped between $16.748 and $16.939 and ended with a gain of 1.01%.

 

Euro gold remained above €1103, platinum lost $2 to $902, and copper fell 5 cents to about $3.25.

 

Gold and silver equities rose nearly 1% in the first two hours of trade and remained near that level into the close.

 

The Economy:

The Markets:

 

Oil ended higher in mixed trade on supply disruptions in Iran and Venezuela.

 

The U.S. dollar index held near unchanged along with treasuries ahead of this week’s fed meeting.

 

The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly higher on signs of progress before the summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were Vale, Uber, KKR, USG, Rolls-Royce, Tesla, IHOP, and CRISPR Therapeutics.
