The Metals:

 

Gold dropped $6.10 to $1290.90 in both Asia and London, but it then shot back higher into the close and ended near its late session high of $1311.10 with a gain of 1.03%. Silver rose to as high as $17.164 and ended with a gain of 1.00%.

 

Euro gold jumped up to €1106, platinum closed at $939, and copper ended at $2.93.

 

Gold and silver equities rose nearly 2% by early afternoon and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

 

The Economy:

Tomorrow brings the S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller HPI, New Home Sales, and Consumer Confidence. Fed chair Yellen also speaks at 12:45AM EST.

 

The Markets:

 

Oil rose over 3% on signs that pledges to reduce the global supply glut have been effective.

 

The U.S. dollar index saw decent gains as the euro dropped markedly in reaction to the outcome of the German general election.

 

Treasuries climbed higher as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P dropped on renewed concerns about North Korea.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were T-Mobile and Sprint, Alphabet, Nets, Deloitte, and Cenovus.
