The Metals:

 

Gold fell to as low as $1711.97 by about 8:30AM EST before it rebounded in New York, but it still ended with a loss of 0.31%.Silver slipped to as low as $33.003 in London, but it then climbed to as high as $33.824 in New York and ended with a gain of 0.03%.

 

Euro gold fell to about €1311, platinum gained $4 to $1621.50, and copper fell 4 cents to about $3.86.

 

Gold and silver equities waffled near unchanged and ended mixed.

 

The Economy:

 

There were no major economic reports today.Tomorrow at 3PM EST brings Consumer Credit for December expected at $8.5 billion.

Oil fell as the U.S. dollar index and treasuries rose on continued concern about Greece that sent the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P lower.

 

Greeks delay bailout talks as Merkel demands action Reuters

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were HCA, Verizon, Boeing, Humana, USG, and Goldman Sachs.
