June 06, 2015

While demand for U.S. Silver Eagles declined somewhat during the first quarter of 2015, the Royal Canadian Mint sold the most Silver Maples ever. The U.S. Mint sold 12.1 million Silver Eagles in the first quarter of 2015 compared to 13.9 million during the same period last year, a decline of 13%. On the other hand, Q1 2015 Canadian Maple Leaf sales actually increased 8.5%.

Stepping Up to the Plate

June 04, 2015

I was originally going to title this piece “Doin’ the Right Thing” after the old Spike Lee movie. I had used that title once before, back in early 2008 in an article complimenting Barclays Global Investors for deciding to publish the serial numbers and weights of the all the bars held in its then-sponsored silver ETF, SLV (now sponsored by BlackRock). I had written several public articles exhorting Barclays to publish the data and was gratified that it did so.

Here's What the Next Gold Bull Market Will Look Like

June 02, 2015

We measured every bull cycle of gold stocks and found there have been eight distinct upcycles since 1975. We also discovered something exciting: Only one was less than a double. (A second was 99.9%.) Even more enticing is that the biggest one—a 601.5% advance in the early 2000s—occurred just after a prolonged bear market. And our current bear market is longer than that one.

U.S. SOLAR & WIND PRODUCTION: Just How Little Is It?

June 01, 2015

Just how little is U.S. renewable energy production from solar and wind? Well, it actually turns out to be less than I thought. Even though the United States continues to add new solar plants and wind farms, it’s the growth of the country’s fossil fuel output that is the real winner over the past decade.

The Message from Last Week’s Headlines: Don’t Dare Sell Your Gold!

May 28, 2015

Have you noticed the trend in mainstream headlines over the past week? The gold price may be stagnant, but forces behind the scenes signal that something big is gelling. What conclusion would you draw from this rundown of recent headlines?

Curiouser and Curiouser

May 28, 2015

What’s so curious is that just as the silver (and gold) COMEX price manipulation becomes more blatant and easier to prove, those being damaged the most by it, silver producers, are nowhere to be found; even though there is much they could do to end the damage inflicted on shareholders by artificially depressed prices. Let me explain how the price manipulation is becoming more obvious and then what mining companies can do about it.

Something BIG Is About To Happen To Silver

May 27, 2015

Yes, that’s correct. Something BIG is about to happen to silver. Now, how this plays out is hard to tell. Recently released new data points to a situation that will force a BIG move in the silver market. In addition, there have been some very interesting movements in the flow of silver bullion. As I mentioned in the article Why Is The U.S. Importing So Much Silver Bullion??, U.S. silver bullion imports surged 44% in the first months of 2015 compared to the same period last year.

Silver is a Special Metal

May 25, 2015

Silver could then jump up to the $22 -$24 levels, its next step. By then, it could clearly test the $30, which would be the following step. The bottom line is, silver has great potential and it appears to be leading the other metals.
